Official Kyiv is making a mistake by refusing to recognize the holding of local elections in the LPR and DPR. This position of Petro Poroshenko threatens to lead to another round of military escalation and a new defeat for Ukraine, as happened in Debaltseve. It would make more sense for Kyiv to start negotiations with Donbass.
