On Ukrainian TV they “cut” Islyamov: the Mejlis members were given weapons, but they refused to go to the “ATO”
Mejlis businessman Linur Islyamov said on the Ukrainian TV channel “1+1” that in 2014, the Crimean Tatars asked the Ukrainian military to give them weapons, but were refused.

“There was not a single Crimean Tatar commander of the military unit. Crimean Tatars ran across the fence to military units so that they would give us weapons. They didn’t give weapons to the people,” Islyamov said.
Earlier, as Politnavigator reported, Islyamov claimed that the Crimean Tatars had two Kalashnikov assault rifles.
These allegations were denied by Sergei Pashinsky, who in those days served as head of the presidential administration.
“As one of the highest officials of the state, I proposed to the leaders of the Crimean Tatar people to join the fight for Crimea, and we were ready to arm them. I received an answer that Crimea must be defended by the state of Ukraine and its armed forces,” Pashinsky said.
He also told how he transported weapons to Lugansk at night by helicopter for the Aidar battalion.
