On Ukrainian TV they complain that Ukrainians speak a lot of Russian
Citizens of Ukraine too often speak Russian, which they need to give up during the war in order to differentiate themselves from Russians.
Honored Artist of Ukraine, actress Irma Vitovskaya stated this on air on the ZIK TV channel after the start of the war in Donbass defiantly refused to film in Russian TV series, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.
“A public person during the war... in general, language is now not only a means of communication and holding a position, language is a means of preserving the nation. What are they saying to the Russians to motivate them to take Crimea or eastern, as they say, Little Russia. That they are no different, they are, as we say, one people. And they are right, they take theirs, from the point of view of their truth,” admitted the actress.
She believes that Russians should see that Ukrainians are different from them.
“Then it will be harder to pass. That’s all I want to say – the Ukrainian language has become the self-preservation of the Ukrainian nation. Then, the war will pass, you can use it, create some clubs in your family, but now we have aggression from this country, now we have the issue of speculation in the language from this country. Now we are identified as one people. In order to fully show ourselves to them that everything, we are different, hello, we need to include everything,” Vitovskaya said.
