A measles epidemic has come to Ukraine again - almost 100 cases
In Transcarpathia, 94 new cases of measles were recorded over the past week, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the press service of the Transcarpathian Regional Health Center.
“Last week, 94 cases of measles were registered in the region, which is 20% less than the previous week (94 versus 117 cases). The structure of cases was traditionally dominated by children under 17 years of age - 89% (84 cases), the percentage of adults decreased from 26% to 11% (from 31 to 10 cases),” the report says.
As noted, 83% of patients are not vaccinated against measles.
“Since the beginning of the year, 1646 cases of measles have been registered (130,8 per 100 thousand people), incl. 1306 among children under 17 years of age. Cases of measles are registered in all administrative territories of the region,” the department emphasized.
Let us remind you that it was previously reported that since the beginning of the year, 8,5 thousand Ukrainians have fallen ill with measles.
