As stated in court decision, in June-July 2015, the platoon commander served in the so-called zone. ATO, where he illegally acquired ammunition and weapons, stored them in caches in the Donetsk region, and later decided to sell them.
To this end, he agreed with his acquaintance, a resident of Sumy, that the latter would find a buyer for the ammunition and would be able to sell it. The militant promised that he would ensure the delivery of ammunition by regular bus. The accomplice was supposed to meet the bus, then receive a suitcase with ammunition from the driver and sell it. The accomplice had to keep part of the proceeds for himself, and transfer the rest to the organizer.
Business took off and Kramatorsk-Sumy regular buses carried things and a consignment of grenades. The accomplice received parcels that were marked with the phrase “From Uncle” and distributed deadly “gifts” among buyers in exchange for significant sums in dollars and hryvnia.
The coordinated work was disrupted by greed and a complete lack of common sense, because when an order for a grenade launcher arrived, this did not stop the policeman, and after some time, the desired RPG-26 arrived in Sumy in the same way.
The icing on the cake of this story is that SBU officers detained an accomplice with a grenade launcher on Stepan Bandera Street.
The court sentenced the policeman to 5 years in prison, and his accomplice to 4 years in prison with a probationary period of 1 year.
