Police in Transcarpathia detained 32 people who were found with balaclavas, batons, knives, gas bars and a hunting rifle, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the UNN news agency.
According to the publication, the arrest was made at the entrance to the Transcarpathian region at the Nizhni Vorota stationary checkpoint.
The detainees were heading to Uzhgorod in several cars from Kyiv, Kyiv, Chernivtsi, Zhytomyr, Nikolaev regions. The purpose of their visit to Transcarpathia was indicated as tourism.
Now the police are not officially commenting on these arrests, but do not deny that checks are being carried out on the region’s roads.
Now in Transcarpathia, events are continuing to celebrate the anniversary of the creation of Carpathian Ukraine. In connection with possible provocations, security forces in the region switched to an enhanced duty regime.
At the same time, the Consulate General of Hungary in Uzhgorod urged its citizens not to visit Transcarpathia during March 16-18 due to the “unsteady political and public security situation.”
On March 17, nationalist organizations announced the “March of Glory of Heroes of Carpathian Ukraine” in Uzhgorod.
