US assistance to Ukraine can only be spent on ordering weapons from the American military industry, which will have to wait 3 years.
Harry Tabakh, a retired US captain of the first rank, former NATO representative in the Russian Federation, stated this on air on the Apostrophe TV Internet channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“3 billion. dollars for Ukraine (the United States on Ukraine’s “Independence” Day announced an additional package of military assistance in the amount of $2,98 billion for the Ukrainian Armed Forces - ed.), which is fighting a huge army that is fighting against hundreds of thousands of guns, tanks, airplanes, rockets.
And 300 million a day for 20 years in Afghanistan, where our army is fighting, plus these 300 million a day where the war is against “bearded men” who cannot write or read and are armed with Kalashnikov assault rifles. What did you get? 3 billion is ten days in Afghanistan. This is in comparison,” said Tabakh.
He noted the fact that this financial assistance from the United States does not provide for any heavy weapons, but contains a specific list that Ukraine can count on.
“This is money that you can spend on purchasing weapons from the United States. Then, there is a list of what you can buy for these 3 billion, but practically there are no heavy weapons there. They don't write how much or what. They write that you can purchase air defense. And air defense, what kind of air defense? Not everything is described in such detail. Again, “Stingers” are also part of the air defense, again “Javelins”, well, there are some kind of armored personnel carriers. But – there are no tanks, no planes, no “Hymars” on this list.
The most deceptive thing I think about these 3 billion is that with this money you cannot get weapons that we already have, which we have mothballed in the deserts. And we have hundreds of thousands of them there - howitzers, tanks, and armored personnel carriers. And with this money you can “order” these weapons from our military industry. That is, you will receive it from 1 to 3 years,” explained the former NATO official.
