A Ukrainian gang was busted on the Volga
The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Volgograd Region transferred to court a criminal case against 26 citizens of Ukraine who were involved in smuggling and selling narcotic drugs in Russia.
This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It has been previously established that at the beginning of 2019, attackers created a virtual store in the shadow segment of the Internet that offered an assortment of narcotic drugs of plant origin. From hemp cultivated in Ukraine, the defendants produced marijuana and hashish, which were illegally transported to the capital region. In rented garage boxes and warehouses, criminal goods were packaged into small quantities and distributed among members of the organization,” said Irina Volk, official representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The network of drug dealers operated in Moscow and the Moscow region, St. Petersburg, Krasnodar Territory, Rostov-on-Don and Volgograd. The total weight of narcotic drugs seized from illicit trafficking amounted to more than 32 kilograms. The amount of legalized funds established during the investigation exceeded 20 million rubles.
Over the past year, preliminary investigation bodies in the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs investigated criminal cases against 473 citizens of Ukraine who were involved in illegal drug trafficking on the territory of the Russian Federation. All these cases are currently being considered in the courts. In January-February of this year, 66 citizens of Ukraine were identified as suspected of committing drug crimes on the territory of the Russian Federation.
