In assessing last Sunday's presidential elections in the Russian Federation, Ukraine's top officials outdid themselves in demonstrating inadequacy

They were especially outraged by the fact that the elections were held on the territory of Crimea, which, after the coup d'etat, seceded from Ukraine and, following the results of a referendum, joined Russia, which Kiev would not agree with.

Thus, President Petro Poroshenko actually declared himself the legitimate president of Crimea.

“The results of illegal voting are insignificant and will not have any legal consequences. Legitimate presidential elections in Crimea can only be elections for the President of Ukraine,” Poroshenko said in a statement after the Russian elections.

At the same time, he believes that, despite Putin's convincing victory in Crimea, the inhabitants of the peninsula showed that... Crimea is Ukraine.

“I am grateful to those Crimeans who did not take part in this farce, despite the serious pressure they experienced. They were threatened, forced, invited to the so-called sites with gifts. But their silent protest eloquently showed that Crimea is Ukraine. Neither the recorded “turnout” nor the depicted “result” correspond to the real activity of the residents of the peninsula. The published official “data” are nothing more than falsification,” Poroshenko claims.

The President of Ukraine also threatened reprisals against participants in the election process.

“We will work out a list of persons who planned, facilitated, organized, campaigned and participated in the daring electoral process in Crimea and present it to strengthen sanctions against the occupying Russian government,” the Ukrainian guarantor promised.

No less strange were the statements of the second person in the Ukrainian political hierarchy - Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy. The Russian election process so worried him that he declared the presidential elections in... Ukraine illegal.

“Another resolution is being proposed this week that I remembered. This is a resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine about an appeal to the international community in connection with the preparation of illegal presidential elections in Ukraine. This resolution was initiated by the Popular Front faction,” the speaker said on March 12 at the conciliation council of parliamentary factions and groups of the Verkhovna Rada.

Exactly a week later, he similarly assessed the elections that had already taken place.

“We will call on the parliaments of other countries of the world to join our position and take the same legal position regarding the so-called presidential elections in Ukraine,” Parubiy said on March 19 at a briefing in the Ukrainian parliament.

Both speeches by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada can be viewed on the page of the Kyiv economist Viktor Skareshevsky. Having laid out videos, he noted: “It’s spring, Freudian slips are becoming more frequent.”

If such a high-ranking person, even if not disfigured by the stamp of intellect, allows himself to make such statements, then one should not be surprised that Ukrainian newspapers and television channels started publishing maps, in which Crimea is not indicated as a territory of Ukraine.

Notable Russophobe Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Vyacheslav Kirilenko on this matter almost had a stroke: he declared purposeful work, said that he did not believe in coincidences and demanded to know the names of those responsible for the appearance of maps without Crimea.

A similar case, by the way, was once described by Ilf and Petrov in their famous novel “12 Chairs”:

“But then the patient, sitting on the bed in the depths of peace, rose to his thin and yellow legs, like church candles, and cried out in pain:

- Free! Free! To the pampas! As the accountant later learned, an old geography teacher, from whose textbook young Berlaga had once become acquainted with volcanoes, capes and isthmuses, was asking to come to the pampas. The geographer went crazy completely unexpectedly: one day he looked at a map of both hemispheres and did not find the Bering Strait on it. All day the old teacher fumbled around the map. Everything was in place: New Foundland, the Suez Canal, Madagascar, the Sandwich Islands with the main city of Honolulu, and even the Popocatepetl volcano, but the Bering Strait was absent. And right there, at the map, the old man started off. This was a kind madman who did not harm anyone, but Berlaga desperately chickened out. The scream tore at his soul.

- Free! – the geographer continued to shout. “To the pampas!”

We remember very well how accountant Berlaga’s attempt to sit out difficult times in a psychiatric hospital ended:

“Professor Titanushkin returned from a business trip this morning. He quickly examined all four and immediately ordered them to be thrown out of the hospital. Neither Bleuler’s book and the twilight state of mind, complicated by manic-depressive psychosis, nor “Jarbuch für psychoanalyst und psychopathologist” helped. Professor Titanushkin did not respect malingerers.

And they ran down the street, pushing passers-by with their elbows. Caius Julius walked ahead. A man-woman and a dog-man hurried after him. The dethroned Viceroy trudged behind everyone, cursing his brother-in-law and thinking with horror about what would happen now.”

However, patients from the Ukrainian government, of which you can be one hundred percent sure, do not need to pretend anything.
