This was reported by the press service of the Southern Military District.
An analogue of the Panther Plus has already been mastered and is being successfully operated on another rescue vessel of the fleet, the Kommuna. A simulator for teaching and training the apparatus’ calculations is also mounted there.
Experts also installed a new side-scan sonar on the Epron, which makes it possible to search for objects on the seabed with greater accuracy.
After completing the installation of modern equipment, Epron will receive a full range of search and rescue equipment, which, in addition to the Panther Plus, includes the Tiger underwater remote-controlled vehicle, sets of deep-sea normobaric suits, modern diving equipment, observation cameras, a diving bell and pressure chambers.
The deep-sea working remote-controlled vehicle "Panther Plus" is capable of working at depths of up to 1000 m. It is equipped with two mechanical manipulators on which cable cutters and a circular saw can be placed for cutting complex structures up to 90 mm thick.
The remote-controlled vehicle has an automatic depth control system, an echo sounder, a satellite positioning complex and a device for soil erosion. Operators can monitor its actions using two controlled high-photosensitivity television cameras located next to the manipulators, as well as rear-view video cameras.
