About it RIA News said the head of aviation of the internal affairs bodies, Anatoly Yakunov.
“The police aviation unit in Crimea, he recalled, was created from scratch in 2014. Then it received only the unmanned aircraft complex into operation and worked mainly at public events: rallies, holidays. Now an order is being prepared, it will be signed in 2015, on expanding the detachment. Now it will include both a UAV complex and a Mi-8 helicopter,” said a representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to him, this equipment will “cover” both the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol during police operations, performing tasks of searching for missing persons, searching for criminals, monitoring the operational situation at mass events, video surveillance and others.
“In the future, we will supply them with a second helicopter, a light class one. Then they will have everything that is necessary to fully equip the territorial police agency, maybe even a little in excess. But this is in the future for 2016 or even 2017 - right now there is not enough flight personnel. We have quite high requirements, so it’s difficult to find professional pilots of a suitable class for us,” said Yakunov.
