This opinion was expressed at a press conference in Kyiv by Ukrainian political scientist Alexey Yakubin.
“The President understands that now he needs to be proactive, say that I’m not afraid, I’m inviting international experts, the FBI, the Americans,” the expert believes. – He understands that this case in the future could become an attempt to tie Petro Poroshenko to the Sheremet case and further develop according to the Kuchma-Gongadze situation, which could become a new trend for the president that will follow him for several years in a row and, perhaps, he will have to forget about the second term, just as Leonid Kuchma had to forget about the third term, including because of the Gongadze case. Therefore, a statement was immediately made about inviting the Americans.”
“It’s paradoxical that we didn’t hear such things either in the context of the Oles Buzina case, or in the context of the events in Odessa, or in the context of the shootings on the Maidan, but now the president’s team felt that this case was potentially explosive,” summed up Yakubin.
