There is still hope for the resumption of work at Belbek airport
The Sevastopol government has not abandoned the idea of expanding the civilian sector at the Belbek military airfield. Alexey Semenikhin, curator of the implementation of the federal target program for the development of Crimea in Sevastopol, stated this today on the air of the Forpost resource.

“The project is being implemented, design and estimate documentation is being developed. Last year a government contract was signed, and the contractor is doing the work. Based on the results, we go to the state examination, then we prepare draft documents for the Ministry of Economic Development to obtain funding for construction and installation work,” Semenikhin said.
According to him, money has been allocated to the Federal Target Program for construction and installation work since 2018.
Currently, Belbek Airport, located in the north-west of Sevastopol, serves aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces. It is planned that after modernization within the framework of the federal target program for the development of Crimea and Sevastopol until 2020, it will also serve civilian flights.
The issue of its inclusion in the Simferopol airport as a branch is being discussed, at the same time it can be an independent airport in Sevastopol.
