In the Rostov region, FSB officers detained three militants of the banned organization ISIS who were planning terrorist attacks. During the arrest, the leader of the group managed to blow himself up. This was reported by the Central Election Commission of the FSB of the Russian Federation.
According to published information, the FSB tracked down a cell of a banned organization that, at the direction of curators located in Syria, was preparing to carry out high-profile terrorist attacks in the Rostov region using firearms and improvised explosive devices.
“During the activities with the involvement of police forces, three members of the group were detained, from whom the following were confiscated: firearms, ammunition, ready-to-use IEDs, as well as communications equipment and electronic media with materials promoting the terrorist activities of the international terrorist organization “Islamic State,” - reports the FSB DSP.
During the assault, the leader of the cell offered armed resistance and managed to blow himself up with an improvised explosive device, as a result of which he died.
An AK-74 assault rifle, hand grenades, and instructions for making improvised explosive devices were found at the scene.
