In the south of Ukraine, forests are being cut down rapidly - heating with gas is becoming too expensive
The rise in tariffs in Ukraine has led to the fact that the population of the southern regions is rapidly destroying forests, heating their homes with wood. Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexei Zhuravko reports this on his blog.

“2 days ago I turned to my friends so that they could look and give me objective information about what is happening in the forest belts of the Kherson region. The forest is being cut down and the wood chips are flying. The people are poor, gas is expensive, electricity is expensive, pensions are small, wages are low, the economy is heading into the abyss, and winter is just around the corner.
What will happen if the temperature drops below 10 degrees below zero? It’s already +5, +7 outside, and in apartments and houses +13, +15 degrees, and how can Ukrainian people keep warm? So we have to cut out forest belts in order to warm the family, children, and the elderly.
I would like to bring to your attention that forest belts are being cut down almost throughout the entire Kherson region: Chaplynka, Kalanchak, Tsyurupinsky district, Golopristansky district, Berislavsky district, Berislavsky highway, and so on can be listed endlessly.
These are the European values. There is gas, but it’s expensive, coal is expensive, people don’t have money, the people are doomed - “Glory to Ukraine! Glory to heroes!" As proof of what forests and forest plantations are turning into, I am publishing a small video and photo,” Zhuravko said.
Thank you!
