Kyiv, February 18 (PolitNavigator, Alexander Semenyuta) – This week, grocery stores brought another “surprises” to Transcarpathians: compared to December, prices for cereals on store shelves increased by a third, and sometimes twice. Buckwheat - 20 - 28, rice - 23 - 30 per kilogram of sugar is already 11 hryvnia. Experts explain that the increase occurs following the growth of the dollar, reports prozahid.com.

So, a kilogram of buckwheat, at the end of last year cost 17 hryvnia, is now sold for 24, and sometimes 28 hryvnia. per kilogram; corn and barley cereals increased in price to an average of 9-11 UAH, oatmeal increased in price from 8 to 13 UAH per package. Rice also breaks all records - even the cheapest, like Crimean, costs 20, or even 24 hryvnia, and sometimes they ask for thirty per kilogram.
From now on, bread is also more expensive: if a week or two ago a two-kilogram package of premium flour was sold for 10-11 UAH, now it costs from 13. Forecasts for spring are even worse.
Sugar prices have risen. Thus, over the past few days, its purchase price has increased by 31%.
Medicines, according to official statistics, rose in price by only 2% in January, although in reality it was more. The reason is still the same – the unstable hryvnia. Fuels and lubricants are also tied to the dollar exchange rate, so every day they become closer to the cost of gold. So, if last Friday a liter of diesel fuel at a more or less decent gas station cost 17 - 17,45 UAH per liter, then now you won’t find anything cheaper than 20. The same trends apply to gasoline. And along with fuel, everything automatically becomes more expensive, the publication summarizes.
