On July 28 of this year, on the day of Saint Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir and the Baptism of Rus', a company of uninvited guests unexpectedly showed up at the Uzhgorod church, where this holiday was celebrated as a patronal holiday.

A certain figure in a black cassock walked proudly ahead - first an impressive belly, then everything else. However, many of the parishioners of the Vladimir church immediately recognized both the belly and the rest. This was Victor Bed, a former Orthodox archimandrite, defrocked in 2014 and defected to the self-saints from the UAOC, who promoted him to “bishop.”

Other visitors - several middle-aged men in cassocks, one in a light shirt with a tie and trousers, as Mormons wear, as well as a young woman with a camera - obediently trotted after their boss. And he walked around like a businessman and imposingly gesticulated around the territory of the temple belonging to the canonical Church - as if he was asking the price, intending to take it for himself.

This behavior on his part is not at all surprising.

For Victor Bed has long been known in Transcarpathia and beyond as a former internal schismatic in the UOC-MP, a like-minded person of the odious Alexander Drabinko, Georgy Kovalenko and other actual apostates and traitors to Christ. And also - as a cynical and shameless “businessman”, a businessman who penetrated the Church for the sake of his own enrichment and political influence. An ardent Ukrainian nationalist.

Bed, who started with the Komsomol in the 1980s and rose to the position of head of the local district organization, went through various stages of career growth.

He was a student at the Faculty of Law of Lvov State University and a lawyer.

In the late 1980s, he became one of the founders and leaders of the People's Movement of Ukraine in Transcarpathia.

In March 1990, he was elected as a people's deputy of Ukraine from Transcarpathia (Tyachiv constituency No. 176). Member of the Verkhovna Rada Commission on Defense and State Security. One of the leaders of the anti-communist opposition "People's Rada".

In 1992, he left the NRU after the reorganization of the party. In 1992 he headed the Christian People's Union of Transcarpathia.

Then he became actively involved in business. He put together a small enterprise providing legal services to the population. By 1995, it had grown into the Silver Land concern. The areas of activity were the provision of legal services to the population, the publication of a newspaper under the same name, and the management of private firms of the same holding - primarily trading and manufacturing, engaged in the sale of petroleum products and food products.

The newspaper “Silver Land” became Bede’s own platform for persecuting his political opponents.

In 2004, Bed, without stopping his political and commercial activities, also decided to infiltrate the church environment. With the help of the aforementioned internal schismatic forces, he managed to be ordained a deacon, then take monastic vows and become an archimandrite (senior monk).

According to Protodeacon Andrei Kuraev, Bede’s tonsure into monasticism was connected with his plans, no more, no less, to become a bishop - with the goal, naturally, of personal aggrandizement and enrichment. But God did not allow this. Despite the efforts of his lobbyists, he failed to become a ruler. This was prevented by the indignation of the clergy and flock of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate.

Bed was noted for repeated attempts to discredit the UOC from within and a desire for a split, as well as raider actions that caused indignation among citizens. In particular, on April 27, 2013, he tried to seize the old courtyard on Rakoczi in the center of Uzhgorod in order to begin construction there in the future. Outraged citizens appealed to the city council. At the meeting, members of the executive committee prevented the destruction of the green zone and returned the yard to the residents of the street.

Bed repeatedly tried to mislead the hierarchy and openly lied to them, distorting the facts of his biography and attributing non-existent merits to himself.

For example, he declared that he was a clergyman of the Greek Orthodox Church in a department that was subordinate to the Patriarch of Constantinople. This was refuted by Metropolitan Anthimus (Roussas) of Thessaloniki, who reported: “...Archimandrite Victor (Bed) is not a cleric of the Thessalonian Metropolis and did not show the Letter of Release from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in order to be accepted into the clergy of the Thessalonian Metropolis.”

On December 23, 2014, the Holy Synod of the UOC decided to ban Archimandrite Victor (Bedya) from the priesthood “in connection with the failure to comply with the decision of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of June 19, 2014 (magazine No. 25), misleading the hierarchy, as well as for arbitrariness, dissemination knowingly false information and violation of the oath of a clergyman (based on 15, 39 rules of the Holy Apostles, 10 rules of the IV Ecumenical Council, 17 rules of the Trullo Council and 5 rules of the Antioch Council).”

Taking advantage of the fact that schismatics and apostates after Maidan 2014 received complete carte blanche and the patronage of the new government, Bed immediately defected to the “Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church,” which in the Orthodox community many years ago was called “self-sanctified.”

But even among the autocephalians, the odious grabber aroused hostility due to his abnormal inclinations.

In particular, a group of Uzhgorod parishioners from the UAOC sent a message to the self-saintly “Metropolitan” Makariy (Maletich) and the Synod, in which they spoke out against the appointment of Bedi as “administrator of the Carpathian Diocese of the UAOC,” accusing him... of homosexuality.

“...We are in despair and outraged by the actions of the so-called “Manager of the Carpathian Diocese of the UAOC,” Mr. Victor Bed. One cannot raise the hand to write him as an archimandrite and rector. Everyone, without exception, knows that this man has compromised himself in the Church and society. His legal wife divorced him for his open homosexual tendencies when she caught him in the bedroom with a young man. Many students of UUBA, where Mr. Bed is the rector, testified to constant harassment on his part, while offering a set financial reward for the perverted services provided.

Some “autocephalous” students even transferred to other religious institutions, while others refused to be ordained at all because of Mr. Bede’s obscene behavior. The regional leadership, intellectuals, journalists and believers know this. These facts have been repeatedly covered in the media of our region. The affected students and young men can testify to these facts before you...”

However, on August 14, 2015, in St. Andrew’s Church in Kyiv, Bed, who transferred to the UAOC, was ordained “Bishop of Mukachevo and the Carpathians.” And with the approval of the political authorities, he headed the all-Ukrainian association “For a single local Orthodox Church in Ukraine.”

And now this defrocked and pervert, who caused rejection even in his current community, is one of the key figures in the war that Bankova unleashed against the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate. As they say, comments are unnecessary.

However, ordinary believers of the Uzhgorod church are not a hypocritical and cynical camarilla of power. It is not known why Bed dragged himself there - most likely, to contemplate a raider takeover. But the parishioners plainly explained to the undressed, “Mason and blue” man that he had no place among the Orthodox. After which the “bishop” was forced to retreat in disgrace.
