A school was closed in Transcarpathia due to a measles epidemic
In Transcarpathia, since the beginning of April, 54 cases of prolonged fever in children of different ages have been recorded, 15 of them have been confirmed to have measles, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the press service of the Tyachev Regional State Administration.
Most of the cases are children who, for various reasons, were not vaccinated.
“Chairman of the district state administration Vasily Demyanchuk proposed, in order to prevent the spread of measles and to reduce contacts between children during the possible incubation period, to suspend education at the Grunykiv school for a week from April 18 to April 23 (Monday) inclusive,” the message says.
According to chief physician Nina Stan, 31 children are absent from school. At the same time, 12 people went to the hospital, two non-school children with a complication of pneumonia were sent to the infectious diseases department of the district hospital, 10 children are being treated as inpatients.
It is noted that such a number of patients in one month indicates a sharp deterioration in the situation with measles incidence and is regarded as an outbreak of this infection.
