It will take Russia 5-10 years to replace the products of Ukrainian military factories
Moscow - Kyiv, June 18 (Navigator, Mikhail Stamm) - Experts consider the consequences of a complete blockade of military cooperation to be very serious: there will be no supplies to the Russian Federation of engines and spare parts for Russian military aircraft, warships and vessels, there will be no service from Ukrainian specialists to Russian nuclear ballistic missiles. The Kyiv military embargo will affect almost every fifth military order for the Russian Air Force and Navy.

According to them, 79 Ukrainian and 859 Russian defense enterprises will suffer from the rupture of cooperation between Ukraine and the Russian Federation in the military-industrial complex. Russia's share in the sphere of military-technical cooperation with Ukraine previously amounted to about 80% of the volume of such activities and is annually estimated at $200 million. Ukraine's share in the Russian defense industry was about 3,5%.
According to military expert Professor Alexander Gusev, Russia still needs 60% of Ukrainian-made gearboxes for surface combat ships. In addition, braking parachutes and hydraulic systems are produced in Ukraine for Su-27, Su-30 and Su-35 fighters. Ukrainian parts are also involved in the production of the latest Su-34 front-line bombers. Almost all models of the Mil family helicopters are equipped with Ukrainian engines produced at the Zaporozhye plant "Motor Sich", they are also equipped with the new Yak-130 combat trainer aircraft, as well as aircraft of the Antonov family, including the largest military transport aircraft An, which are currently being modernized -124 (“Ruslan”).
Kyiv's sanctions threaten Russia's implementation of the state arms program, for which about 2020 trillion rubles are allocated until 20. In fact, the Kyiv military embargo will affect almost every fifth military order for the Russian Air Force and Navy.
NVO recalls that on April 28, Russian President Vladimir Putin set the government the task of working on the issue of import substitution of Ukrainian military products. He stated that cooperation between Russia and Ukraine in the military-technical field “is of great importance for the Russian defense industry and decisive, key for the Ukrainian one.” According to Putin, Russia is able, both for financial reasons and at the technological level, to carry out import substitution within a period of one and a half to two and a half years. Rogozin is more cautious. At the end of May 2014 in Kirov, he said that the Russian defense industry may need at least three years to solve the problems of import substitution of complex units supplied from Ukraine.
Experts have doubts that in such a relatively short period of time Russia will be able to even technically build the entire line of import substitution of Ukrainian military goods on its own production base. Director of the Center for Social and Political Research Vladimir Evseev believes: “To replace the main military products supplied from Ukraine with domestic ones, Russia needs from five to seven years. And for the most complex projects, for example, the production of aircraft engines, it will take up to 10 years. The process can be accelerated, but this will require the investment of significant resources.”
