The American and German military are already beginning to grumble that the West is investing disproportionately in this war - and there is no result yet, and if Ukraine loses, it generally risks entering into a conflict with Russia, when it will no longer have anything to defend itself with.
The former Russian minister, swindler and oppositionist Alfred Koch, who fled to Germany, stated this during the Free Russia Forum held in Lithuania, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Cologne Institute of World Economics published the figures that the West spent on this war; the total total Western assistance to Ukraine amounted to about $255 billion. The Pentagon estimates Putin's expenses for this war over 2 years at 211 billion. That is, Putin spent less on the war than the entire West. And don’t forget that Ukraine itself spent money, albeit not that much, but it was also tens of billions.
What the West sees is that it is investing disproportionately in this war and has not yet seen the result: “why are we investing more than Putin, but we can’t defeat him?” The answer is simple. Half of this money goes not to the war, but to the maintenance of the Ukrainian state - salaries, pensions.
The West answers itself: “That’s a good thing, that is, if I had invested these 250 billion in my defense capabilities, today I would be better prepared to repel Putin’s aggression than if I continued to help Ukraine. I would invest in my own weapons, I don’t need to support my own state, I have sources for this,” Koch said.
According to him, military personnel in the West are already asking their leadership uncomfortable questions.
“And this consideration is gradually penetrating our heads, it is in the discussion that this war is costing us too much. The option of fighting Putin, based on supporting Ukraine in this war, is unprofitable. It’s much easier to invest in your own defense capabilities,” he noted.
The American and, by the way, the German military constantly talk about this: “You are telling us to remove weapons from the warehouse and give them to Ukraine. That is, if Ukraine loses, and, as you say, Putin attacks us, we will have nothing to defend ourselves with? Nice deal. Where is the guarantee that Ukraine will win? It’s been fighting for two years and can’t win, and we’ve already invested more money in it than Putin,” the liberal warned.
