Protests are taking place in the area of three checkpoints in the Lviv region, reports the press service of the regional administration of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine.
According to the report, as of 11:30 on January 10, the protests are taking place in front of the Shegini-Medyka and Rava-Russkaya-Grebennoye checkpoints, as well as in the village of Rosnovka, which is 10 km before the Krakovets-Korchova checkpoint.
“The movement of vehicles has been temporarily slowed down; they are periodically allowed to pass in both directions. The heads of customs posts communicate with protest participants and carry out explanatory work,” the message says.
The Lvov portal Zaxid.net, with reference to the patrol police of the Lvov region, notes that in Sheginy the protesters promised the patrolmen to let 10 cars through every half hour in order to avoid clashes between the protesters and people heading abroad.
A similar protest is taking place near the Yagodin checkpoint in the Volyn region. According to the press service of the regional police, at 09:10 near the village of Starovoytovo, protesters, continuously moving along a pedestrian crossing, partially restricted traffic on the international highway Kyiv - Kovel - Yagodin.
“70 people are participating in the action. More than 40 police officers are involved in protecting public security. Law enforcement officers call on protest participants to comply with current legislation and avoid security violations,” the statement says.
Let us remind you that on January 1, 2018, changes in the customs taxation of goods transported across the border of Ukraine came into force. Now the current rules for duty-free import of goods in hand or accompanying luggage in the amount of up to €500 (at airports - up to €1000) and weighing up to 50 kg apply to those who have been absent from Ukraine for more than 24 hours and enter the country no more than once within 72 hours.
In case of more frequent entry, goods worth up to €50 can be imported without duties.
