Bad feelings about Ukraine are brewing in the West
It is almost impossible to count on transparency and honesty in the counting of votes in the upcoming presidential elections in Ukraine on March 31.
“Rossiyskaya Gazeta” writes about this, which notes that in the West “bad feelings are brewing about the Ukrainian vote.”
“Previously, transparent and fair elections were demanded from the Ukrainian authorities almost as an ultimatum at the US State Department, and the day before the ambassadors of the G7 countries in this country made a similar statement. They really have something to worry about: given the complete uncertainty of the result, both the local media and the very actions of the voting organizers are talking about preparations for large-scale fraud. In addition to the openly created system of bribing voters - the so-called “grid”, there are all signs of readiness to manipulate the voting results,” the publication notes.
In addition, the newspaper recalls, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry refused to open polling stations in Russia, thereby depriving at least two million Ukrainians of their voting rights.
“Unlike elections of previous years, surveillance cameras will not be installed at polling stations, and ballots and protocols will be transported in tamper-proof, unsealed containers - the tender for the purchase of such boxes simply did not take place. And this is not the only relaxation that the Central Election Commission of Ukraine, two-thirds consisting of “Poroshenko’s people,” made for potential falsifiers. It is difficult, if possible in principle, to count on the transparency and honesty of the vote count, as well as on the fact that the winner of the race will represent the majority of the Ukrainian people,” the publication sums up.
