In Western Ukraine – “the frosty breath of the Cold War”
The Cold War begins between Ukraine and its Western neighbors. The process was provoked by the adoption of a new law on education, which infringes on the rights of national minorities. Anna German, a former ally of the fugitive ex-President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, stated this on the NewsOne TV channel.

“We take many steps and mistakes that provoke these processes. But there are also many old dreams of our western neighbors that have been dormant for these 25 years. Ukraine has always behaved very peacefully so as not to awaken these demons. There is no need to be naive: part of Polish society has always dreamed of regaining Lviv. The law on education gave impetus to awaken separatist sentiments in Transcarpathia. We’re talking about Bukovina and Romania,” said Herman.
According to her, “the frosty breath of the Cold War” is felt along the entire western border of Ukraine. But the biggest danger for the country, in her opinion, is the deterioration of relations with Poland, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We know what a colossal lobby Poland has in the United States. In 1989, the United States targeted Poland as the main outpost for the destruction of the Soviet Union and communism in Eastern Europe. This lobby can cause great damage to Ukraine if it tells the world that there is no power here, and radicals control everything,” German said.
