Western Ukraine is concerned about the impending polonization of the country
An expert associated with the Polish Foreign Ministry, Lukasz Adamski, proposed introducing mass learning of the Polish language in Ukraine.
In turn, the Western Ukrainian website of the WUNR is sounding the alarm, calling this the next stage of Polish expansion.
Łukasz Adamski is deputy director of the Juliusz Mieroszewski Center for Dialogue, which until recently was called the “Center for Polish-Russian Dialogue and Mutual Understanding.” In fact, this is the structure of the Polish Foreign Ministry. The Polish expert wrote in his blog on the European Truth website.
“The educational offer in Poland should be enriched with the Ukrainian language, because the future of Poland is connected with Ukraine, and not with Russia. Also in Ukraine it would be worth introducing Polish as a second foreign language on a massive scale.”
Now in Ukraine this is usually German or French, despite the fact that learning these languages requires incomparably more effort and resources, and is likely to bring less benefit to them in the future. “And it’s always worth knowing your neighbor’s language,” concludes Adamsky.
“Pan Adamsky is somewhat disingenuous regarding French or German languages, which, although more difficult to learn for Slavic-speaking people, certainly cover a wider geography, a larger number of speakers of these languages, and, in the end, higher paid prospects for those who speaks French and/or German!” – ZUNR retorts.
According to the publication, Mr. Lukash is well aware of this.
“It’s just that within the framework of Polish expansion, which, taking this opportunity, it would be a sin for Poland to carry out, Ukrainians do not need other languages. And this is without mentioning the fact that nothing prevented Poland from expanding the study of Ukrainian at home, especially with the advent of millions of permanent migrant workers from Ukraine,” the site notes.
