In the Ivano-Frankivsk region, a priest of the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate made inappropriate expenses of 700 thousand hryvnia during the renovation of a church in the village of Novitsa, Kalush district, and illegally tried to transfer the temple to the subordination of the schismatic “Kyiv Patriarchate”. This was reported by the local resource “Parallels”.

The priest was engaged in the improvement of the community property entrusted to him since 2011. For these purposes, local residents donated 115 UAH from each house for several months. However, for six years no one reported to the villagers for the work done.
“We became interested in the funds after the village council received documents for examination from the regional department of culture, tourism and religion about changing the charter of the Novitsa church community and that the temple and residence were being transferred to the ownership of the diocese of the UOC-KP. According to the village mayor Vladimir Golovchak, he called the people whose signatures were on the documents, and received in response that they did not sign anything. There was also no meeting to change the charter,” the statement says.
After this, the deceived villagers inquired about the fate of the church money and created an audit commission, which discovered a shortage of almost 700 hryvnia.
