Having been convicted several times, the accused went back to prison in 2011 for committing several thefts and drug possession. He managed to be released on parole in July 2013. The unserved part of the sentence was more than 10 months. As is customary in such cases, he was placed under administrative supervision, prohibiting him from leaving his place of residence. However, the convict could not stay at home when the so-called Maidan began in Kyiv.
Caressed by the love of the people of Kiev, well-fed and clothed, in a comfortable environment, the repeat offender-revolutionary lived on the Maidan from October 2013 to April 2014. After which he returned home to the Rivne region, where he was prosecuted for deliberate evasion of administrative supervision under Art. 395 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The politicization of the modern judicial system of Ukraine no longer causes either surprise or doubt. On September 9, 2014, the Bereznivsky District Court of the Rivne region issued a verdict, in the introductory part of which it called the defendant’s evasion of administrative supervision nothing less than “participation in the revolution of Dignity”!
Without openly recognizing this as a mitigating circumstance, the court passed an unprecedented verdict and imposed a sentence of 1 year in prison with a probationary period of 2 years, and the repeat offender, drug addict, but revolutionary, instead of returning to prison to serve the remaining prison term, went home to a civilian wife.
