About it stated on Twitter World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) spokesman Ben Nichols.
“WADA calls on the sporting community to ban Russian athletes from participating in international competitions, including the Rio Olympics, until there is a ‘cultural change,’” Nichols wrote.
Chnovnik noted that the manipulations with doping samples of representatives of more than 30 disciplines identified by the independent WADA commission cast doubt on the entire doping control system in Russia.
“The Russian doping investigation reveals the most malicious and disturbing abuse of power in the history of sports. This is completely unacceptable,” Nichols said in his tweets.
On July 18, the independent WADA commission established the involvement of Russian athletes, officials and FSB employees in large-scale manipulation of urine samples at the 2014 Winter Olympics. The results of 15 champions and medalists of the Games were called into question.
In turn, the International Olympic Committee announced tomorrow, July 19, to announce a decision on the participation of athletes from the Russian Federation in the 2016 Olympics. This is said in a statement by IOC head Thomas Bach published on the committee's website.
According to him, the IOC will carefully study all the facts set out in the report of the independent WADA commission headed by Richard McLaren, including accusations against the Russian Ministry of Sports.
“The findings of the report show an unprecedented and shocking attack on the integrity of sport and the Olympic Games. The IOC will not hesitate to take the harshest sanctions against any person or organization involved,” the IOC press service quotes Bach as saying.
Let us recall that so far only the International Association of Athletics Federations has suspended Russia from international competitions. Athletes from the Russian Federation, except for Daria Klishina, who accepted the offer to compete under the Russian flag, will not be able to participate in the 2016 Olympics.
