In the Zhytomyr region, 200 units of military equipment were found, which were being prepared for sale “to the left”
In the Zhytomyr region, law enforcement officers, while investigating damage to a main oil pipeline, came up with a scheme to steal special equipment and vehicles. Over the course of two weeks, a series of searches were carried out in the Novograd-Volynsky district and almost 200 military units prepared for sale were seized, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Among the identified equipment are armored personnel carriers, infantry fighting vehicles, ZILs, URALs, GAZ, kungs, trailers, tank trucks, aerial platforms, tractors with winches and other equipment, incl. for transporting people by land and water. A significant amount of spare parts for them, batteries, tires, etc. were also seized,” reported on the National Police website.
It is established who owns the equipment and whether it is registered with military units.
It also turned out that an individual posted an advertisement on the Internet for the sale of this equipment.
Authorized searches were carried out at several addresses where vehicles were stored. In addition to the equipment itself, documents about its origin were confiscated. The information provided therein is verified.
A case was initiated under Part 3 of Art. 191 (Appropriation, embezzlement of property or taking possession of it through abuse of official position) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The police initiated the seizure of the found equipment until all the circumstances were clarified.
The Zhytomyr region is one of the regions where amber is mined illegally. In July 2016, special forces detained amber diggers with a military tractor in the Rivne region.
