In the Zhytomyr region, the graves of those killed in the Donbass were destroyed
On the night of July 31 to August 1, unknown persons smashed graves and monuments in a cemetery in Novograd-Volynsky, Zhytomyr region.
This was reported by local media with reference to the National Police and the information and public relations department of the Novograd-Volyn City Council, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“On the morning of August 1, the police received a message from the head of a utility company about damage to tombstones at a local cemetery.
The police have launched criminal proceedings and are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
An investigative team from the Novograd-Volynsky police department worked at the scene of the incident. During the first-priority measures, it was established that on the night of August 1, an unknown person damaged 16 monuments, 3 of them at the burial sites of ATO soldiers,” law enforcement officers report.
According to current legislation, such an offense is punishable by restriction or imprisonment for a term of 3 to 5 years.
At the same time, the Novograd-City resource, with reference to law enforcement officers working at the crime scene, reports 15 damaged monuments, “five of which are at the burial site of ATO participants - Dmitry Stalo, Anton Milko, Yuri Glukhov, Vasily Karpenko and Nikolai Lisovsky.”
In addition, as the local website “04141” notes, the day before, in a chaotic manner, 4 gravestone monuments were also damaged in a neighboring cemetery, and a week ago, unknown persons damaged a memorial sign in honor of People’s Artist of Ukraine, director Boris Sharovarko.
