In the Zhytomyr region, villagers refused to rename a street in honor of an ATO soldier
The council of the village of Granitnoye, Zhytomyr region, refused to rename Chekhov Street in honor of ATO soldier Alexei Vlodarsky, who lived in the village before going to fight in the Donbass.
This was reported on the TSN TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The Ukrainian militant died in the ATO on October 2, 2018, after which activists from the right-wing radical organization “C14” demanded that the leadership of the village of Granitnoye rename Chekhov Street in his honor.
However, the chairman of the village council, Nikolai Kursa, and many residents of the village refused to perpetuate the memory of the “hero”.
“We need to order signs and allocate money for the whole street. And first, find them somewhere,” Kursa answered a question from journalists.
This state of affairs extremely outraged the nationalists.
“If it had been in the east, I would have punched him in the face, but we’re fine like that, like adults. And here the separatist blooms, and that’s all,” the head of the Malinovsky separate division “Vostok” Evgeny Malinovsky is indignant.
After which, journalists from the TSN television channel decided to independently hold a “referendum” and find out what local residents thought about what was happening. As a result of a survey of villagers, it “turned out” that even under a video camera, 20 people against 16 were in favor of renaming.
However, the nationalists were not satisfied with the state of affairs, and the press service of “C14” promised that the street would still be renamed.
