This opinion was expressed in a commentary to Izvestia by Russian military expert Igor Korotchenko, who assessed the joint declaration of the foreign ministers of Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein, in which they proposed a program to strengthen the effectiveness of OSCE instruments, including, in connection with the crisis in Ukraine, “the ability to conduct peacekeeping missions with military elements."
“We see that Ukraine today is monstrously trampling all agreements, shelling populated areas of the DPR and LPR, killing civilians and destroying civilian infrastructure,” the expert emphasized. – At the same time, it is unclear what OSCE observers are doing instead of recording Ukrainian crimes. That is, the OSCE as an organization is ineffective, so there is no point in giving it additional powers.”
