The National Bank of Ukraine increased the “fair” dollar exchange rate by 3 UAH at once
Kyiv, December 08 (PolitNavigator, Alexander Semenyuta) – The National Bank of Ukraine considers the rate 15,30-15,50 UAH/$1 fair and allows it to fluctuate up to 16 UAH/$1 in the near future. This was reported by an Interfax-Ukraine source in financial circles with reference to the results of a meeting between the head of the NBU Valeria Gontareva and representatives of the largest banks.

Back on November 9, the head of the National Bank of Ukraine, Valeria Gontareva, said that she considers the rate of 12,95 UAH/$1 close to economically justified.
“The NBU notes the lack of improvement in the situation on the financial market of Ukraine. The completion of the formation of the Cabinet of Ministers did not bring the expected improvement,” he said.
According to the source, the NBU admitted during the meeting that the outflow of deposits in the banking system continued and amounted to UAH 3,3 billion in November of this year, against the backdrop of a simultaneous increase in the outflow of funds from current accounts of legal entities.
At the same time, according to the NBU, since the beginning of the year the population has withdrawn UAH 124,5 billion from accounts in commercial banks. and $8,7 billion - respectively 22% and 37% of the funds in the country’s banking system as of January 1, 2014.
Let us recall that on August 27, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said that the Ukrainian economy will not withstand the hryvnia exchange rate above 12 hryvnia per dollar.
