The National Bank of Ukraine deliberately strangled business with a credit stranglehold – Tymoshenko
Business enterprises in Ukraine are losing competitiveness due to the fact that they cannot take out loans at the same low interest rates as enterprises in other countries.
The leader of the Batkivshchyna faction, Yulia Tymoshenko, stated this on the NASH TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“At what percentage are we given the resources that fuel the economy? At what percentage are loans given to our enterprises, our businesses?
You understand that we are competitors in the global economy. And credit resources, their cost, directly affect the cost of production. If we are not competitive in terms of lending rates for our businesses, we are screwed.
We are given loans at 21% per annum, while the whole world issues loans at 3-5% per annum. Do you understand what the difference is? They are killing us. This is the policy of the National Bank.
I cited figures, I told the president that the National Bank has been under the control of global financial corporations for many years and through the National Bank’s policies they have actually been killing our economy for many years,” the ex-prime minister concluded.
