Saakashvili, who aimed at the Rada, was convicted of forgery and fraud
The former governor of the Odessa region, Mikheil Saakashvili, claims that he lived continuously in Ukraine for 5 years and was expelled from the country against his will.
Therefore, in his opinion, he has every right to run for the Verkhovna Rada in the upcoming early parliamentary elections.
The ex-president of Georgia stated this on air on the Ukrainian TV channel “Nash,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I think that the Central Election Commission can do everything normally, there are precedents in the recent history of Ukraine, so this problem can be solved. Of course, I would like to accompany these people to parliament,” Saakashvili said about the prospects of participating in the elections to the Verkhovna Rada together with his party.
However, Ukrainian journalist and blogger Vladimir Boyko, who was present in the studio, hastened to refute the statements of the Georgian-Ukrainian politician, calling him a “shameful phenomenon” and a “swindler.”
“I would like to say that now we have seen simply a shameful phenomenon, and this does not decorate either our state or our people.
Firstly, Mr. Saakashvili was invited to Ukraine to serve Poroshenko’s dirtiest corruption schemes. He received Ukrainian citizenship on May 29, 2015, which means there’s no way he’s been able to do it for five years.
Secondly, he left Ukraine voluntarily, he is lying. He signed all the documents, Poland did not accept him in the order of readmission, negotiations with him were conducted by Mr. Semochko, who at that time served as the head of the SBU Department for Kyiv and the Kyiv region.
As far as I know from the people who were present at these negotiations, Saakashvili asked for 3 million, Semochko negotiated for 2 million dollars. Saakashvili voluntarily went to the Dutch embassy, issued a residence permit, since his wife has Dutch citizenship, signed documents to leave Ukraine and go to Poland, and Poland sent a plane for him. According to the law, he cannot be a people's deputy.
Thirdly, he never approached Ukraine with a request to grant him Ukrainian citizenship. A year ago, Saakashvili appealed to the Supreme Court with an administrative claim to cancel the presidential decree by which he was deprived of citizenship, and his lawyer stated that he never applied for citizenship and that the signature on the application was forged.
At Saakashvili’s request, a forensic handwriting examination was ordered in June last year. As of today, it has not been completed because it was not possible to find samples of his signatures, since he, while in the position of head of the Odessa Regional State Administration, did not sign either a declaration or a statement of consent to the pre-lustration check. They found only the document on the appointment of his first deputy with his real signature, there are no reference samples.
So, this is a shameful phenomenon, these are international scammers who make money here,” Boyko concluded.
