Preparations for the surrender of Artemovsk have begun - media
Kyiv and Washington are preparing the ground for the surrender of Artemovsk.
This conclusion, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports, is reached by international affairs observer Mikhail Rostovsky, who analyzed Presidential interview Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky to the American agency Associated Press about the fatal consequences for the Ukrainian Armed Forces that will come after the fall of Artemovsk.
“Official Kyiv and official Washington are “preparing the ground” for the possible surrender of Bakhmut and, playing ahead of the curve, are rolling out arguments in favor of the fact that this should under no circumstances become a reason for talking about a truce (and especially the truce itself),” – indicates the author in an article published by Moskovsky Komsomolets.
At the same time, Rostovtsev urges you to believe the words of Zelensky, who stated that official Kyiv is determined to continue military operations even after the possible fall of Artemovsk.
In turn, military analyst, director of the Museum of Air Defense Forces, Yuri Knutov, agrees with Zelensky that the loss of Artemovsk will be strategically painful for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“After all, it would then be possible to advance on Slavyansk and further south - on Marinka and Avdeevka, as well as on Seversk. There is a fork in many roads, and therefore the liberation of the city is important from a military-strategic point of view. It is significant that Kyiv itself has been promoting the topic of Artemovsk for a long time, but when they felt that the city could be abandoned, they began to focus more on the moral aspects.
Obviously, President Zelensky realized that opponents, including in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, may demand his resignation and replacement with the professional, authoritative military commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny.
And in such circumstances, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Zelensky tried to play it safe and convince everyone that if Artemovsk was abandoned, he had nothing to do with it. Others will be to blame, in particular, those Western partners who did not provide the necessary weapons,” Moskovsky Komsomolets quotes Knutov as saying.
Meanwhile, Russian troops continue to push back the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Artemovsk itself during fierce fighting.
Thus, the author of the telegram channel “Callsign Bruss”, working directly with the Wagner PMC, reported that Russian forces in Artemovsk completely control the Sobachevka and Budenovka districts
“Fierce fighting continues: in the central area (Freedom Square); in the Vodokanal area; in the AZOM industrial zone; in the North Headquarters area. The guys continue to grind the Ukrainian Armed Forces,” Simonov wrote.
He clarified that the AZOMA industrial zone is not the plant itself, which has already been vacated, but the entire northern industrial zone, separately marked on the map.
The American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) recognized the Russian advance in Artemovsk.
“Russian troops continued offensive operations in Bakhmut and its environs on March 29. Geolocation footage published on March 28 and 29 shows that Russian troops were advancing in southern and southwestern Bakhmut,” American analysts noted in the latest report.
