The laying of an electric cable to Crimea from mainland Russia has begun
Sevastopol, December 23 (PolitNavigator, Alexander Kononov) – The laying of an electric cable to Crimea has begun from mainland Russia. The work should be completed next year.
This was stated by Sevastopol Governor Sergei Menyailo at the opening of a new distribution substation in Sevastopol.

“The work has already started and the cable will be transferred here in the process next year. But this does not mean that we simply switched to mainland Russia and they will provide us with electricity from there,” Menyailo said, explaining that the plans include the creation of a unified energy system that will be made up of many elements.
“The unified energy system of Crimea is a whole complex. This is the supply of electricity from generating sources from mainland Russia, these are our own generating sources and everything that we have in Crimea. We are following the principle of creating a unified energy system for Sevastopol, and for Crimea in general,” the governor said.
Another equally important component of the peninsula’s energy system should be thermal power plants, for which design and survey work is currently underway. According to Menyailo, “this process is slow. The standard period for the construction of a thermal power plant is two and a half to three years,” he said.
