The expulsion from Russia of a talk show heroine from Ukraine has begun
Last night, the procedure began for the expulsion from Russia of former Ukrainian journalist Elena Boyko (Vishchur), who left Lvov after the Euromaidan victory and lived in Moscow, participating in numerous talk shows on Russian TV, but never legalized her status in the Russian Federation.
On New Year's Eve, Boyko was detained; the court, for violating immigration laws, decided to deport her to Ukraine, where the journalist, according to her defense, may face persecution by the SBU.
Yesterday evening the journalist was put on a train that was heading to Belgorod. That is, instead of possible deportation to the Donbass republics, Boyko was threatened with deportation to Kharkov, where she would immediately fall into the hands of the Ukrainian security forces, political scientist Ruslan Ostashko, who is defending the journalist, said in his blog.
“Lena Boyko is on the train, she is being deported to Ukraine. Everything is arranged in such a way that she herself agreed to this deportation. They promise to send her to Donetsk, but they take her by train to Kharkov,” he wrote on his blog last night.
At the same time, the journalist’s lawyer, Galina Perfilyeva, went from Moscow to Belgorod by car, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
At 7 o’clock in the morning it became known that Boyko was “taken out of the train and forced into an Olive Renault.” “They are taking us towards the Nekhoteevka checkpoint. From there the only direct road is to Kharkov,” Ostashko said.
Currently, Boyko is at the border checkpoint. Border guards are studying her documents. PolitNavigator will monitor the situation.
