Testing of a new ship has begun, the construction of which was disrupted by Ukraine
The guided missile frigate Admiral Golovko entered sea trials for the first time at Severnaya Verf. Russia intends to build a whole series of such deep ocean ships for its Navy.
After 2014, the construction schedule for the frigates was disrupted due to the demarche of Ukraine, which refused to fulfill the contract for the supply of afterburning engines produced at the Zorya Mashproekt enterprise for the needs of the military fleet since Soviet times. This is how Kyiv “took revenge” for the departure of Crimea to the Russian Federation.
As a result, it took Russia several years to launch its own production of gas turbine units on its territory to replace the products of the Ukrainian plant.
Even despite the delay, this is not the worst option, because initially, after Ukraine’s demarche, it was assumed that the unfinished frigates could be sold for export - in this case, Kyiv was ready to supply engines to the Russian side.
