The head of the Crimean highway resigned after a corruption scandal
The head of the Crimean highway, Igor Kravchenko, resigned after a corruption scandal.
This happened after Crimean social activist Alexander Talipov discovered the Instagram account of the 27-year-old official’s girlfriend, where she boasted of photographs of a joint vacation in a luxurious 5-star hotel and expensive gifts received from her lover.

“Of course, you can probably spend what you earned earlier, but how much of this earned we will find out in April, when it’s time for him to show his income statement, and in the meantime you can pamper the girl: expensive cars, business class flights, expensive jewelry, shoes, handbags, helicopters, hotels, parties... I wonder if our roads will also be kept in excellent condition, like this girl?” – the social activist commented.
“In 2013, the man was still dancing on stages in the club, in 2015 he was already the executive director of a road construction company, in 2016 he was already the acting head of the Road Service, the boy danced to success,” Talipov was amazed at Kravchenko’s career rise.
In addition, the social activist stated that in the case of Kravchenko, “there are clear violations of anti-corruption legislation” - the young civil servant “is the founder of an LLC, which is also associated with road construction.”
According to Talipov, the scandal reached the head of the Republic of Crimea, Sergei Aksenov. On the first working day after the New Year holidays, he heard Kravchenko’s explanations. He allegedly said that the girl’s expensive dresses, handbags and jewelry were Chinese fakes, and besides, the friend works, “and earns all the trinkets herself.” Kravchenko himself, allegedly, in addition to dancing, has experience working in the structures of the Ministry of Defense.
Obviously, such arguments did not satisfy Aksenov. As a result, on Monday evening it became known that Kravchenko had written a letter of resignation.
Social activist Talipov was not satisfied with this result. “Guys, the goal was not to fire on your own, there was only one question, to figure it out, no one bothered to figure it out,” Talipov explained.
Let us recall that in the summer of 2016, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a visit to Crimea, made it clear that he saw no changes in the deplorable condition of the roads two years after the reunification of the peninsula with Russia. Putin announced this at a meeting with the head of Crimea Sergei Aksenov and the new Sevastopol governor Dmitry Ovsyannikov.
“The internal road network is still (in fact, due attention was not paid to this before) in a rather deplorable state, and it is necessary to take at least the first steps towards improving this condition,” Putin said.
