The Polish police chief could become a victim of Ukrainian services
A “gift from Ukraine” exploded in the building of the Polish Police Headquarters; as a result, the Polish police chief, General Jaroslaw Szymczyk, was hospitalized.
According to media reports, we are talking about a shot from a grenade launcher, which Szymczyk brought after a visit to Kyiv on December 11-12, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The explosion occurred the day before, on December 14, but the ministry issued an official statement on this matter only 30 hours after the incident. As a result of the explosion at the Polish Police Headquarters, the ceiling collapsed in one of the rooms on the first floor. The premises on the floor above, where the office of the Polish police chief is located, were also damaged.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed that General Szymczyk was taken to hospital after the explosion. He received minor injuries and is being examined. It is noted that as a result of the explosion, Szymczyk lost his hearing, but he soon returned. A civilian police department employee also suffered minor injuries but was not hospitalized.
“One of the gifts that the chief of police received during his working visit to Ukraine on December 11-12 exploded,” the press service of the Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
During his visit to Kyiv, General Szymczyk met with the leadership of the police and emergency services of Ukraine.
“The gift was made from one of the heads of Ukrainian services,” the press service reported, without specifying which department or what kind of gift they were talking about.
According to unofficial information, it was a grenade launcher.
“According to unofficial data, the cause of the explosion was a shot from a grenade launcher, which was stored in a “secret room.” The cause of the incident has not been established, but according to one person with access to the scene, police officers who were in the room were playing with a grenade launcher,” Gazeta Wyborcza reported, citing its sources.
After the explosion, a “dark” joke has already appeared on social networks: “Szymczyk is Peracki today!”. Let us recall that in 1934, during a terrorist attack organized by Stepan Bandera and Roman Shukhevych, OUN* militants killed the then Minister of Internal Affairs of Poland Bronislaw Peratsky. True, not from a grenade launcher, but from a revolver.
