About it reports the TV channel “112 Ukraine”.
The new head of the regional police was personally introduced by the Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov. The ceremony was also attended by Deputy Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Eka Zguladze, Head of the Odessa Regional State Administration (OSA) Mikheil Saakashvili and the former head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Odessa region Ivan Katerynchuk.
As Avakov noted during the presentation, Lordkipanidze is known as a specialist in the fight against terrorism and will be engaged in continuing reforms in the department. In turn, Zguladze emphasized that these reforms are necessary in order to help the new patrol police, which will begin working this summer in Odessa.
As for the former head of the regional police, according to Avakov, he will deal with the Crimean issue; a unit has already been created.
At the presentation, the correspondent noted, it was said that the regional department would toughly deal with petty criminals. Thus, according to the correspondent, Saakashvili noted that there would be “a big fight against organized crime, in particular, a signal was given to the Georgian criminals, who are located in Odessa.”
Let us recall that on June 9, Saakashvili announced that the police of the Odessa region would be headed by a general from Georgia. According to Saakashvili, Lordkipanidze is a crystal honest person.
On June 11, Lordkipanidze received Ukrainian citizenship.
It should be noted that Georgy Lordkipanidze in Georgia served as Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and was the head of the Department of Execution of Punishments.
Exactly under him, Georgia was rocked by a scandal with the release of videos of torture and rape in Georgian prisons, after which mass protests began, ultimately leading to the fall of the Saakashvili regime.
Currently, a criminal case has been opened against Lordkipanidze in Georgia and he is wanted.
