The flight from Poroshenko's TV channel began
Russian liberal TV presenter Evgeny Kiselev, who has been working in Ukraine in recent years, announced his departure from the Direct TV channel owned by the country’s ex-president Petro Poroshenko.
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, on the air of his author’s program “Itogi,” Kiselev said that he was leaving to write memoirs and “other projects.”
“Everything ends someday. And so, my work on the “Direct” channel as the host of “Itogi” ends. Today is their last release. I'm leaving to pursue other projects. Including, to start writing a big book, which I have been planning to work on for a long time, but this work is difficult to combine with daily work on the information channel,” Kiselev said.
Kiselyov’s departure from the TV channel, according to Ukrainian blogger who became a member of parliament, Max Buzhansky, is bad news for Poroshenko.
“Kiselev is leaving the Pryamy TV channel. Petr Alekseevich, a little more and you will be left alone,” Buzhansky wrote on his blog.
He was supported by his parliamentary colleague, journalist Alexander Dubinsky: “Kiselev’s departure... from the Pryamoy TV channel seems to hint. They’ll put you in prison.”
However, according to one version, Kiselev will soon appear on the air of NV radio, owned by Tomas Fiala, a Czech ex-minister, lobbyist and businessman with extensive interests in Ukraine. One of those behind the pro-Western NGO sector in the country.
The day before, the magazine of the same name, part of the NV media holding, found itself at the center of a scandal - the above-mentioned Buzhansky called its journalist “a stupid sheep from an odious media outlet” for asking an incorrect question.
The editor-in-chief of the magazine, Vitaly Sych, confirms this assessment, proudly publishing a divisive anecdote on the pages of the magazine. Thus, a “worthy” company is selected for Kiselev’s potential new place of work.
