A mass exodus of Ukrainians to Russia has begun

The President of the Ukrainian Analytical Center, Alexander Okhrimenko, draws attention to this trend in his blog.
He points out that over 9 months of 2017, 211 thousand Ukrainian citizens received temporary residence permits in Russia, and 135 thousand Ukrainian citizens received permanent residence permits. At the same time, 62 thousand received Russian citizenship.
During the same period in 2016, 237 thousand Ukrainian citizens received temporary residence permits, 99 thousand Ukrainian citizens received permanent residence permits, and 75 thousand Ukrainians received Russian passports.
“By the way, for 9 months of 2017, the share of Ukrainians who received Russian citizenship amounted to 33% of the total number of people who received Russian citizenship. The process has been started,” summarizes Okhrimenko.
