A new era begins - the allies no longer rely on the United States
The withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan dealt a colossal blow to the image of the United States as a partner. Now all Asian countries connected in one way or another with the United States are no longer so confident that they will receive assistance in the event of a conflict with their opponents.
The biggest beneficiary of this is China, which now has more power to deal with Taiwan, which is not under Beijing's control, and to increase its influence in the east.
Russian political commentator Maxim Yusin stated this on the PolitWera Internet channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In light of the upcoming confrontation with China, for example, over Taiwan, will the same Taiwanese be 100% confident that the Americans will support them as they say? If China launches a military operation against Taiwan, there is a high probability that the Americans will not get involved and will allow the Chinese to annex Taiwan. This means that the Taiwanese already have a question: is it even worth getting involved with China in terms of force? Maybe we can try to come to an agreement and return on some more or less acceptable terms while Beijing is still offering them,” the expert noted.
“Elsewhere in Southeast Asia, where the Chinese have tensions with other allies, those allies may also have doubts about the US willingness to support them. As for Russia and our problems with the United States in the post-Soviet space, only the lazy do not remember all this, so we will not quote here all the experts who drew parallels with the Ukrainian situation.
But this also comes to mind. And in the Middle East, the same thing could happen with Saudi Arabia, if suddenly there is some kind of tough confrontation with Tehran. Where is the confidence that the Americans will fit in? In general, in fact, a new era is beginning, we all have to realize how much image loss the hegemon has suffered, but the fact that these are colossal losses, in my opinion, no one will argue,” Yusin said.
