The trial of Zhirinovsky begins: He faces 12 years in prison
The Kiev court will consider on February 4 the case of financing terrorism by the LDPR and personally by the leader of this party, Vladimir Zhirinovsky.
Deputy Mikhail Degtyarev announced this from the rostrum of the State Duma of the Russian Federation today, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Recognition of the patriotic and state position of the LDPR and personally of Vladimir Volfovich Zhirinovsky follows from the decision of the SBU, which sent the case against him and two other deputies of our faction to court. For the first time in the history of the Russian state, a party leader is charged with financing terrorism. For the fact that we provided humanitarian aid to the children of Donbass in 2014, when the Kiev regime launched a punitive operation,” Degtyarev said.
The criminal offenses charged against deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation provide for punishment of 10 to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
