The redneck begins: Hotels in Crimea raise prices, but not the level of service
The cost of holidays in some hotels in Crimea has risen by 200% this year, but even so, finding and booking available rooms for the summer is already problematic.
Local journalist Ilya Izotov writes about this on his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Izotov, even the previously unpopular directions of eastern and western Crimea have closed their reservations by 80%.
“Today a friend from the Urals asked me: can you help me find a vacation option in Crimea in July with a price of about 3000 per day. And I told him: “Dear friend, such prices have not been seen in Crimea for a long time.” My colleague, who a couple of years ago, during the pre-Covid period, vacationed in one of the hotels right by the sea in Alushta, recorded in his memory the price of 3500 per night in July for a double room with breakfast. So for July 2021, the same number is already 8000. What’s true is true. Demand determines supply.
I advised a friend to look for free offers (they are still available in the east and west of the peninsula), but even there these days the booking level is already up to 80 percent.
Dear friends, nothing can be done about this: we live in market capitalism, and if there is demand, please put it out there. (Read Marx). Another thing is that after prices in some hotels increased by 100-200%, the service remained at the same level. And people are perplexed: “Okay, energy and food prices have risen, but not by 100-200 percent!!” But this is where the redneck begins – dear friends!” writes Izotov.
Earlier, PolitNavigator wrote that Crimean hotels are already so filled with tourists that Room reservations are closed for the summer season.
