Director of the Foundation for Humanitarian Strategies Mikhail Pavliv stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, commenting on the prosecutor general of Ukraine bringing charges against ex-President Yanukovych during interrogation in the Svyatoshinsky court via video conference.
“Yuri Vitalievich fulfilled his function as best he could and went home. All this was undermined by several facts, one of which was emphasized by Deputy Leshchenko. During the interrogation, Yanukovych stayed at Akhmetov’s estate and also communicated [by phone] with Yatsenyuk. Almost at the same time, the Supreme Council voted to remove him from power. Lawyers and most representatives of the political community understand that all constitutional norms were violated, but the logic was this: he escaped, which means he withdrew. But from the interrogation it turns out that he did not withdraw himself, but was in the country at that moment,” the expert noted.
“The fabric of logic of these people is torn very much. Here I would also add an interview that appeared literally yesterday or the day before yesterday with a representative of the “Right Sector” (whoever needs it, everyone will read it) that the executions on the Maidan were initiated by almost one of the parties in power. Then, of course, according to him, “Berkut” killed people. Somehow the ball really started to roll, there will be some consequences, but not immediately and not quickly,” Pavliv believes.
