Nazis are horrified: “Bandera Avenue has again become Moscow”
The Kyiv District Administrative Court declared illegal the decision of the Kyiv City Council to rename a number of streets and alleys of the capital, which was made in July 2016.
This is stated in the court decision published in the Unified State Register of Court Decisions, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Thus, the court considered the renaming of Moskovsky Avenue to Avenue named after them illegal. Stepan Bandera, Suvorov Street to Mikhail Emelyanovich-Pavlenko Street, Kutuzov Lane to Evgeniy Gutsalo Lane, Bauman Street to Janusz Korczak Street and Kutuzov Street to General Almazov Street.
At the same time, the court refused to recognize the actions of the Kyiv City Council as unlawful when making this decision and decided to return to the plaintiff the amount of the court fee paid in the amount of 689 hryvnia at the expense of the city budget.
The head of the Ukrainian Jewish Committee, Eduard Dolinsky, commented on the court decision in his blog and quoted the words of one of the Nazi figures, after whom a street in Kyiv was named.
“The Kiev District Administrative Court found unlawful and overturned the decision of the Kyiv City Council to rename Suvorov Street into the street of the Nazi collaborator, organizer of the SS Galicia division Mikhail Omelyanovich-Pavlenko and Moskovsky Avenue into Stepan Bandera Avenue. The decision was made based on the claim of the organization “Public Control and Order”. The court also fined the Kiev City Council 9,205 UAH. for failure to provide data for forensic examination.
“The news of the creation of the SS Galicia division fills us with incredible joy. Heil Hitler!” wrote General Mikhail Emelyanovich-Pavlenko, in whose honor one of the central streets of Kyiv was renamed,” wrote Dolinsky.
The court's decision upset nationalists, who only started to believe in the president Vladimir Zelensky after his sanctions against a number of TV channels.

Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Igor Mosiychuk believes that the decision to return the previous street names will not be finally made: “Spring will come and the appellate court will cancel the decision of the OASC, which, by the way, has not entered into force and will not enter into force, leaving Bandera and Emelyanovich-Pavlenko Avenue alone.” .
One of the initiators of the appeal to the court, Kiev human rights activist Elena Berezhnaya, also predicts that the Kiev authorities will appeal to a higher authority.
“For now, this is the decision of the court of first instance, which the son of a Soviet officer, Vitaliy Klitschko, will probably appeal! Our similar case has been pending in the Supreme Court for more than a year! We will definitely cancel all fascist renamings throughout the country! Victory will be ours!” Berezhnaya wrote on her blog.
