Nazis rioted near the Rada during Poroshenko’s speech
Today's speech by Petro Poroshenko with a message to the Verkhovna Rada coincided with a rally of radical Ukrainian nationalists near the walls of parliament, who protested against the recent expulsion of an ex-ATO fighter to Russia, and also demanded the fulfillment of the presidential promise to grant Ukrainian citizenship to foreigners fighting on the side of Kyiv in the Donbass.
At first, the nationalist rally, which brought together about 150 people (including teenagers), was peaceful, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
However, at one point there was a clash between the protesters and the police stationed to guard the Verkhovna Rada. The nationalists lit smoke bombs and started exploding firecrackers.
However, the conflict lasted only a few minutes, after which the situation in the square in front of the Ukrainian parliament became calm again. Nationalists give out interviews and chant “Passport for volunteers. Promise – keep!” The demonstrators explained the clash as an attempt to enter the Rada to hand over a leaflet to Speaker Andrei Parubiy.
