Nationalist Khmara: Poroshenko is the Ukrainian commander-in-chief, introduced by Putin
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko is lying when he claims that he managed to stop Russian aggression and strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities. In fact, he actually contributed to Ukraine's military and diplomatic defeat.
Elder of the Ukrainian nationalist movement Stepan Khmara stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Khmara, the team of the current president is trying to present the case as if he saved Ukraine from Russian aggression, built an army, and is leading Ukraine to European integration. His campaign is under patriotic slogans. But in reality, Poroshenko did not fulfill his duties as president properly. At the time of his assumption of office, Ukraine had already lost Crimea and well-known events were taking place in the Donbass; the so-called ATO.
“In fact, this was already a real war against the Russian occupiers,” Khmara said confidently and recalled how Poroshenko behaved when he was invited to Normandy on June 6 for events in memory of World War II.
“A meeting was organized between the presidents of Ukraine and Russia and there was such an unpleasant fact - our president shook hands with the leader of the aggressor state, Mr. Putin. But the main thing is that after returning to Ukraine, already on the 12th, the first batch of Russian tanks entered the territory of Ukraine. Intelligence reported this to the president, but there was no reaction,” says Khmara, adding that already on the 20th Poroshenko announced his so-called world plan.
“A truce was declared and during this calm, Russian tanks, rocket launchers, heavy artillery, and sabotage groups began to openly cross the border. There was no reaction because such was the will of the commander-in-chief. Moreover, the president did not even mention that it is necessary to introduce what is provided for by the Constitution - martial law, to break off diplomatic relations with the aggressor,” Khmara is indignant.
Instead, he said, Poroshenko’s plan included items such as a 10-kilometer buffer zone near the Ukrainian border. And on July 5, Strelkov was allegedly given the opportunity to leave Slavyansk for Donetsk.
“As I understand it, by agreement. The march was 4 hours in open areas. There was a command not to offer any resistance, although it simply had to be destroyed. There were no obstacles to this,” assures Khmara, adding,
that Poroshenko is also guilty of the Ilovaisk tragedy.
“From the beginning of August, regular Russian units began to openly enter our territory and surround our volunteers in Ilovaisk. The management promised help, but it never came. Instead, Poroshenko is holding a parade in Kyiv on August 24. After the parade there was no help either. Nothing was done to help our troops and volunteers in Ilovaisk. You know how it ended - there were agreements on the so-called. corridor for our troops to exit. And in it, hundreds of our military and volunteers were shot. This tragedy led to what Poroshenko’s behavior logically led to at that time - to the so-called. the first Minsk agreements,” Khmara noted.
After this, Poroshenko illegally pushed through the Verkhovna Rada a law on the special status of certain districts of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions. “Nothing was said there about the occupation. Then the so-called ATO, although it was a real war,” said the old activist.
Continuing his accusations, Khmara recalled that in 2015 Poroshenko also allowed the second Minsk agreements to be imposed on Ukraine - in fact, a plan for a smooth surrender. The war entered a sluggish phase; no operations were carried out to liberate the territories. In addition, Ukraine at the diplomatic level has never achieved recognition of Russia as a country in conflict, so the world perceives this war as an internal conflict. Moreover, according to him, this is reflected not only in international, but also in Ukrainian documents.
“On the one hand, we hear demagoguery that we are at war. Poroshenko says that this is a national liberation war. But in fact, according to the documents, this is not the case. And even the occupied territories - for internal use we say that these are occupied territories, but in fact, according to documents, these are territories not controlled by Ukraine,” the nationalist said.
Khmara also has questions about other terms. For example, it is not clear against whom the so-called joint forces operation (former ATO), the front is called the “contact line”, refugees are called “internally displaced persons”, etc.
Thus, Poroshenko legally never recognized the fact of Russian aggression, says Stepan Khmara.
“He did nothing to achieve and organize an evidence base for the international community to expose Russia as an aggressor. We know that there is a war with Russia, but the world does not evaluate it that way. If a state maintains diplomatic relations with another state that attacked it, then no one in the world perceives this as a war. They say that Russia is putting pressure on Ukraine, helping the rebels in Donbass,” Khmara lists and claims that this course of events was imposed by the Kremlin, and Poroshenko sought to carry out this plan.
